Hi All - I am reading a really great book called The Barn at the End of the World, by Mary Rose O'Reilley. The subtitle is The Apprenticeship of a Quaker, Buddhist Shepherd. She is a wonderful writer and it is basically a series of vignettes, or essays, about her experiences apprenticing as a shepherd in Minnesota and living for a month at Plum Village with Thict N'hat Hanh (?spelling?). Some are very funny and I am enjoying reading about her struggles with her consciousness, whether in the barn with the animals and with the Buddhists at Plum Village. Thought I would pass the recommendation along. Lisa

On the subject of books, here's a quote from what might be a good one:

"The simplest, easiest way to begin cultivating gratitude is to focus on what we have in the present. We can focus on the good things in our lives, developing feelings of satisfaction, joy, and appreciation. Too often we don't appreciate and see the value of what we have."
